What makes building digital hardware so hard?

January 24th, 2016 · No Comments · other stuff

What makes building digital hardware so hard? This question has many answers, and some of them I’ll try to answer soon at FOSDEM 2016! Two years ago I presented at FOSDEM how to build a custom System-on-Chip (SoC) with OpTiMSoC. Since then, I’ve been involved in getting more momentum behind the free and open digital hardware movement. Time went by quickly, and since then we’ve created the Free and Open Source Silicon (FOSSi) Foundation, bootstrapped a community web site (more about that in the talk!), and much more.

If you’re at FOSDEM, join me for a tour through the challenges when putting together a digital hardware design, like a SoC. And let’s look at how things will get better in the near future, where you can help, and which challenges are critical to be addressed in the near future.

See you there! I’ll also be around for the beer event on Friday and the whole conference, so just find me if you have any questions or want to join us!
